What OIEM Translator is
OIEM Translator (App Store name: OIEM Voice Translator) is a real-time voice translator for iPhone, made for face-to-face conversations between two people who speak different languages. It is developed by OIEM Technologies LLC.
How a conversation works
- Choose the two languages of the conversation (for example Swahili and French).
- Tap the microphone once to start. The connection stays open for the whole conversation.
- Each person simply speaks. No one needs to tap again and there is no "my side / your side": OIEM detects automatically which of the two selected languages is being spoken.
- When a person stops speaking, the text appears on screen and the translation is spoken aloud.
- After the translation has played, OIEM listens again automatically, so the conversation continues hands-free.
OIEM works best with two languages. It can also pick up a third language in the same conversation, but accuracy is best with the two languages you selected.
Speed
- The translated text appears about 0.5 seconds (500–800 ms) after the speaker stops talking.
- The spoken translation starts at the same moment.
- Like all voice translators, it translates after each sentence or pause (turn by turn), not word by word while someone is still talking.
